I met Brooke and Alex last October when I traveled to Grand Rapids to capture their engagement portraits. Through the planning process, I knew they were going to be amazing even before I arrived. We had talked about expectations of the area, what the weather would be like — OH and that they wanted to bring pizza & burritos to their session! With their fun energy (and special add-ons), their engagement portraits turned out to be some of my favorites, so naturally, I was thrilled when they asked me to come back to photograph their wedding. 🙂

Even though the wedding wasn’t for another ten months, I got to know Brooke and Alex through social media and everything they shared made me love them even more. I quickly learned how smart Brooke was — partially because of her work as a medical lab assistant, and partially because she would constantly share her love for tacos. (So. Many. Taco. Posts. It was amazing.) I would always see how incredibly loving and supportive Alex was. He did the kindest things for Brooke from making bruschetta on their anniversary, to entering food competitions by her side. The more they shared about their relationship, the more excited I got to capture their wedding.

When the wedding day finally arrived, every detail I had learned about them was amplified in a special way. They wrote vows celebrating the past five years they’d been together, they requested tacos for their wedding meal AND Brooke surprised Alex with a nacho cheese fountain. It was incredible (and seriously delicious). We fully embraced their Michigan roots by traveling into the forest and capturing them among enormous pine trees. During the reception, every speech given highlighted how much Brooke and Alex entirely loved and supported one another. By the end of the toasts, the room was filled with laughs & tears. Every person couldn’t have been happier that they were finally married and that these two wonderful families were officially one. Brooke & Alex’s wedding day celebrated where they came from, how much they’ve grown as a couple, and all the future adventures (and new taco recipes) to come. 🙂
